Message From Our Founder
I am pleased to have this opportunity to express my profound gratitude to the board of trustees, our partners, management staff and volunteers on the successful accomplishment of this organization in providing humanitarian aid and development work for the Nigerian people.
Our country for many years has struggled with various challenges from natural disasters to absence of quality education, basic health care and a rapid decline in livelihood, the list remains endless.
However we can’t continue to standby and watch, we must put our resources together to be productive and “Yes” we can rise up to these challenges around us. With this mandate, Learning And Life Aid Foundation was birthed in March and established by official decision on 7th Aug 2020 during the covid-19 pandemic.
With the aim of aiding life and learning by improving the quality of life and standard of living of those marginalized and those below the poverty line and working towards achieving the sustainable development goals of the United Nations SDG 3,4,17.
- Good health and well being.
- Quality Education.
- Partnerships to achieve the goal.
In July 2020 our foundation launched a covid-19 sensitization awareness campaign in Oyobu community, Bayelsa State where families were sufficiently educated in local dialect on Corona Virus, the importance of personal hygiene, safe practices and also relief materials were distributed to cushion the effects of the pandemic, promoting global health and stability.
During my research at Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA, Bayelsa State, I came across various communities that suffered heavy flood, and majority of the community dwellers lost their homes, livelihood and sense of belonging; I saw the need to bring in whatever assistance Learning and life aid foundation could muster and we fostered partnerships with one of the leading banks in Nigeria, Heritage bank.
Renowned with a record of helping humanity and as part of its corporate social responsibility, provided major assistance during the Perennial flooding of the Niger delta, to victims in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area Bayelsa State. Relief materials such as food supplies, long lasting insecticidal nets, farming tools were distributed to support the victims and promote stability.
Based on research Nigeria remains the most populous country in Africa with a literacy rate of 61.3 %, a female literacy rate of 50.4%. In other words 50.4% of females above the age of 15 can’t read and write. Between 40% to 55% of Nigeria’s population lives below the poverty line and remains one of the malaria kill zones of Africa today. Also according to UNICEF 30% of children below the age of 5 suffer from malnutrition, diseases and contributes to the death of about half a million each year. This is why we feel the need to step in. We believe with the potentials we possess, your support and fostered partnership. We can make a positive impact on society to make the world a better place.
